Why are eyelash extensions better than applying mascara?
With eyelash extensions, your eyes will look gorgeous 24/7! Lash extensions are an effortless way to make your eyes pop everyday, even without mascara! Mascara can only add a limited amount of volume and length to your natural lashes. For those of you with thin, short, or very straight lashes, extensions create the look of much more volume, length, and curl. If you like to wear false lashes, or band lashes, you can get a similar dramatic look with eyelash extensions without the hassle of having to apply the strip lashes every day. If you already have long, thick lashes, eyelash extensions add even more drama and definition.
What's the difference between eyelash extensions and the false lashes you can buy at the drugstore or beauty supply
Unlike "falsies", bands, or strip eyelashes that you can buy at the drugstore, eyelash extensions are individual lashes that are applied one by one to your own natural lashes. Falsies are applied to the skin of your eyelid with a temporary adhesive, while eyelash extensions are adhered to each eyelash with a permanent adhesive. Falsies come off with soap and water but eyelash extensions last until your eyelash falls out naturally at the end of its growth cycle.
Why are eyelash extensions better than applying mascara?
Eyelash extensions are applied while you are lying down, with your eyes closed. Each lash is applied one by one to your natural lashes, using a black adhesive that mimics the look of mascara. Each lash will then be sealed with the Liquifan Sealant, which allows you to get your lashes wet immediately after application. There is NO drying time!
How long does eyelash extension application take?
A full set takes approximately 2 hours, depending on how many natural lashes you have. Fill-in appointments require less time if you come back within 3-4 weeks and usually take 1 hour.
How long do your eyelash extensions last and how often do I need to come back?
Our Liquifan Lash Extensions last for up to 6 weeks! We recommend scheduling fill-ins, or touch-ups, every 3-4 weeks to keep them looking their best.
Are eyelash extensions safe for my natural lashes?
When applied by a professionally trained and certified artist, eyelash extensions are absolutely safe. This is because the technician is trained to apply the extensions in a way that preserves your natural lashes. Janice takes every precaution to make sure that the extension is no more than double the length of your natural lash to avoid adding excess weight. Only single or individual eyelash extensions are used- NOT CLUSTERS. Clusters are too heavy and can pull your natural lashes out.
What's the difference between this eyelash extension application method and the "clusters" I can get at the nail salon for $30?
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. People who do eyelash extensions for that cheap are NOT CERTIFIED in eyelash extension application. Instead of applying eyelash extensions one by one to preserve your natural lashes, they use "clusters" of eyelash extensions, applying several lashes at a time. This way, they can add a "full set" of clusters in under an hour and can charge a cheap price. The problem with that method is that the clusters are too heavy for your natural lashes to handle. Your natural lashes can only hold so much weight before they become weak and fall out prematurely.
Another problem with the clusters method is that they don't "breathe" well- they can trap dirt and bacteria close to your skin, which can result in infections, pink eye, and styes. These are all things that a professionally trained eyelash extension artist would know! Janice never uses "clusters" that can compromise the health of your lashes or even cause all of your eyelashes to fall out!
How do I clean and care for my eyelash extensions?
Just as you wash your face twice a day, you should also clean your eyelash extensions twice per day. Do NOT use any oil-based products or makeup removers on your lashes, as this can break down the adhesive and cause them to fall out. Also, do NOT pull, rub, or pick at your eyelashes. The best way to cleanse makeup from your eye area is to use a cleanser that dissolves waterproof makeup easily, without rubbing. Janice recommends Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing Makeup Remover, available at drugstores.
In the shower, do not let the water "beat down" on your eyelashes as the force of the water could be enough to pull lashes out. Instead, splash your face gently with the water to cleanse.
To keep your lashes looking their best, use a lash comb or spoolie to comb your lashes whenever necessary. If you have a few wayward lashes, use clear mascara to keep them in place.
What can affect how long my extensions last?
Different factors can affect the length of time before you need a fill in. Skincare and cosmetic products that contain oils, alcohols, or glycols can break down the adhesive that holds your eyelash extensions in place. Try to avoid touching, rubbing, or pulling your lashes as this can damage your lashes. Also try to avoid sleeping on your face, which can cause friction that can damage your lashes. Your age can also affect how long your lashes last; as we get older, our lash growth cycle slows down and it takes longer for our natural lashes to fall out.
